Mira Oasis, a sought-after residential area in Dubai, offers a blend of suburban tranquility and modern living. This was exactly the case with a recent project I took on, where the client was looking to completely transform their narrow galley kitchen into a spacious, light-filled cooking and entertaining area.

The existing kitchen was a compact galley style, common in many Mira Oasis homes, with limited workspace and storage. To solve this, the client decided to extend the side of the house and knock down a few walls to create an open-plan layout. This new design brought in abundant natural light through large patio doors, allowing us to explore bolder color choices and more flexible design solutions.
With so much light flooding into the space, I suggested a deeper hue for the cabinetry—an elegant eggplant/burgundy shade. To balance out the dark cabinets, I recommended a natural stone countertop for brightness and texture. The island worktop features an ogee edge for a subtle touch of sophistication, while the wall units were crafted in warm wood tones, bringing a sense of nature indoors.
Classic Shaker Style
The client expressed their preference for a timeless look, which made an in-frame Shaker kitchen a natural choice. This classic style not only adds character but also seamlessly complements the traditional yet upscale vibe of many homes in Mira Oasis. The dark cabinets contrast beautifully with the bright worktops, and together with the glazed wall units, this design strikes the perfect balance between classic and contemporary.
We tucked away the fridge freezer in a small alcove, opposite the main sink area, keeping the primary kitchen run clean and uncluttered. With the dressers positioned near the patio doors, the space becomes more than just a kitchen—it’s an organized, multifunctional area where cooking and entertaining coexist.
